Getting Involved

Updated August 5, 2020 | Infoplease Staff

Volunteer opportunities exist in virtually any form, and on levels ranging from national to local service. The Web is a great resource for locating opportunities in your area and in the type of work that you would like to do. The following Web sites can help match you up with organizations in need of help.

SERVEnet
Sponsored by Youth Service America and its partners, this site uses your ZIP code to research opportunities in your area. Organizations can also use the site to post volunteer opportunities.
(phone: 202-296-2992)

VolunteerMatch
Like SERVEnet, VolunteerMatch will produce a list of volunteer opportunities in or around your ZIP code. Organizations are also able to post opportunities. You can focus your search further by entering information on when you want to volunteer, how far you're willing to travel, or what type of organization you'd like to work with.
