2001–2002 Broadcast Premieres
The 2001–2002 television season got off to an uncharacteristically subtle start. The new crop of shows just started to receive intense promotion when the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks paralyzed the nation. The focus of the country shifted to national security, away from anything as trivial as entertainment.
Most networks postponed the season premieres, and some episodes of new shows, such as 24 and The Agency, which were eerily prescient of the horrific events, had to be retooled. When the season finally got under way, viewers were treated to some of the best television programming in recent memory. Fox hit a home run with its Tuesday lineup of new shows, including the thoroughly compelling 24 and the hilariously realistic Undeclared. Here's a look at the new shows of the fall.
