- Under Pressure, Mylan To Start Selling Generic EpiPen
- On August 29, 2016, Mylan makes the decision to produce a generic EpiPen competitor to the market after a week of pressure to lower its price of the original product. The EpiPen is responsible for saving countless lives, but procuring pens is becoming cost-prohibitive at $600. The generic version will be AB-rated, meaning it can be substituted by pharmacists for EpiPen. Other competitors of the EpiPen, such as Impax Lab's Adrenaclick, are not AB-rated and cannot be automatically swapped in by pharmacists and doctors. The generic version is expected to be priced at $300.
