The sixth sanctioned Women's World Hockey Championship, held in Ontario, Canada April 4-9, 2000. This tournament served as the main qualifier for the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. The top six finishers (Canada, United States, Finland, Sweden, China, and Russia) qualified. The remaining two teams will be determined at a tournament held in February, 2001.
