Charles S. SEWALL, Congress, MD (1779-1848)
SEWALL Charles S. , a Representative from Maryland; born in Queen Anne's County, Md., in 1779; attended the common schools; served in the Forty-second Regiment, Maryland Militia, in the War of 1812; served in the State house of delegates; was member of the State senate; elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-second Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of George E. Mitchell and served from October 1, 1832, to March 3, 1833; elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-seventh Congress to fill the vacancy which was caused by the death of James W. Williams and served from January 2 to March 3, 1843; moved to Harford County, Md.; died at Rose Hill, Harford County, Md., on November 3, 1848.
