Yahoo! Is Hacked
Image of Yahoo sign
On Sept. 22, 2016, the Internet company Yahoo! confirms that they were hacked back in 2014; over half a billion accounts were compromised—the hackers stole names, passwords, birth dates, and email addresses. Yahoo is urging their users to change their passwords immediately. Currently, the company is working with law enforcement to discover the source behind the hack. They know it was a state-sponsored hack but the country of origin is unclear.
