On November 30, 2016, Colombia's congress approved a revised peace accord with the FARC rebel group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. The previous referendum was rejected by voters on October 2, but by going through congress, voters don't have a say. President Juan Manuel Santos's House and Senate approve the deal in overwhelming numbers. Opponents walk out of Congress in protest before the vote. Santo's predecessor, Álvaro Uribe, is against the deal, tweeting: "congressional action was an attempt to replace a popular mandate."
