- Gawker Media files Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the face of extreme legal expenses brought on by a recent lawsuit. Terry Bollea, also known as Hulk Hogan, sued Gawker Media back in 2012 for publishing a video of him having sexual relations with his former best friend's wife; in March 2016, the jury sided with Bollea. In the June 6, 2016, bankruptcy agreement Gawker agrees to sell its seven media brands to a company called Ziff Davis.
