Damon was just warming up in The Rainmaker and Good Will Hunting, though it's hard to believe he had a more convincing, charismatic performance in him. Then Rounders comes along. He plays Mike McDermott, a law student/poker ace who loses his tuition money in a single hand and his girlfriend (Mol) almost as quickly. He vows to quit until his old buddy, Worm (Norton), emerges fresh from the slammer and in big to the mob. Norton once again shows his range, portraying a shifty rat who doesn't plays his cards right on the table but does with Mike. Another top-shelf film from director John Dahl.
