Given the chance, a good friend of mine will explain to you his carefully considered, historically grounded opinion on why Marvin Gaye's “Let's Get It On” is the best pop song ever. For his own sake, I hope he never sees the scene in The Animal where Rob Schneider grows romantic over a goat while that very tune plays in the background.
Struggling actors will no doubt take issue with the fact that the film co-stars Colleen Haskell, a woman famous for her participation in Survivor, and even Rob Schneider fans may make the reasonable claim that Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo was a more accomplished work. Adam Sandler is the executive producer behind this wimpy-guy-gets-animal-powers flick. The setup allows for some stupidly clever gags, but Schneider dealing with his “animal” desires while trying to be a good cop and woo his woman (Colleen Haskell) is only interesting to devoted fans of the Sandler style.
