media executive, was dealt a stunning vote of no confidence by the shareholders of the Walt Disney Company in March, when they refused to reelect him as chairman of the company. He retained the title of chief executive, however. The shareholders named former senator George Mitchell as chairman. Investors have been highly critical of Eisner's leadership and the lackluster performance of the company's stock. In September he said he plans to step down in 2006.
