former president of Yugoslavia, began his trial at The Hague in February on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Bosnia, Croatia, and Kosovo, as well as for committing genocide in Bosnia. He is the first head of state to face an international war-crimes court. Milosevic was diagnosed with severe heart disease and high blood pressure in July. The diagnosis will likely prolong the trial, which had been predicted to last for two years.
