TURNER, Oscar, Congress, KY (1867-1902)


TURNER, Oscar, (son of Oscar Turner [1825-1896]), a Representative from Kentucky; born in Woodlands, Ballard County, Ky., October 19, 1867; attended the public schools of Washington, D.C., and Louisville (Ky.) Rugby School; studied law at the University of Louisville, and graduated from the University of Virginia in 1886; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Louisville, Ky., in 1891; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1899-March 3, 1901); declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1900; resumed the practice of law; died in Louisville, Ky., July 17, 1902; interment in Cave Hill Cemetery.
