TAYLOR Roy Arthur , a Representative from North Carolina; born in Vader, Lewis County, Wash., January 31, 1910; graduated from Asheville-Biltmore College, Asheville, N.C., 1929; graduated from Maryville College, Maryville, Tenn., 1931; J.D., Asheville University Law School, Asheville, N.C., 1936; lawyer, private practice; United States Navy, 1943-1946; member of the North Carolina general assembly, 1947-1949 and 1951-1953; elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-sixth Congress, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of United States Representative David M. Hall, and reelected to the eight succeeding Congresses (June 25, 1960-January 3, 1977); was not a candidate for reelection to the Ninety-fifth Congress in 1976; died on November 28, 1995, in Black Mountain, N.C.; interment in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Black Mountain, N.C.
