Charles Junius KNAPP, Congress, NY (1845-1916)
KNAPP Charles Junius , a Representative from New York; born in Pepacton, Delaware County, N.Y., June 30, 1845; moved with his parents to Deposit, Delaware County, in 1848; was graduated from Hamilton College, Clinton, N.Y., in 1866; became engaged in banking with his father at Deposit, N.Y., in 1866; president of the board of education for many years; served on the board of supervisors of Delaware County in 1885 and 1886; member of the State assembly 1886-1888; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-first Congress (March 4, 1889-March 3, 1891); declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1890; moved to Binghamton, N.Y., and again engaged in banking; died in that city June 1, 1916; interment in Laurel Bank Cemetery, Deposit, N.Y.
