Regine Cavagnoud
Age: 31reigning World Cup Super G champion from France; persevered through injury-plagued career to become a star on the Alpine World Cup circuit; earned first World Cup victory in 10th season (downhill, 1998-99); appeared in two Olympic Winter Games (1992, 1998). She died two days after suffering serious injuries in a collision with a German ski coach.
