Francine Parker Biography

Political activist and director of a controversial 1972 anti-Vietnam War film. The film was intended as an alternative to the U.S.O shows and included politically satirical skits and song and dances. Released in July 1972, the film played in select U.S. theaters, but only lasted a week before being pulled off movie screens. In the 1960s, Parker produced a series of short plays for television called “Jews and History.“ Parker was the first women to join the Directors Guild of America, and for the last 18 years of her life she was a professor of film in California.
