An Algonquin word, Ogunquit, means "beautiful place by the sea". The Gazebo Inn, a restored 1847 farmhouse and barn, fits that description as well. This B&B has 14 newly renovated, air-conditioned rooms with fireplaces. It is just steps away from Footbridge Beach, which was voted the "Best Southern Maine Beach for Avoiding Crowds" in 2005 by Yankee magazine. However, the inn's location is convenient for crowd-seekers as well; it is walking distance to shopping, fine restaurants, and nightlife. Don't miss: the white chocolate and raspberry scones made fresh every morning. Guests often order a dozen to go — they are that good.

The Gazebo Inn is open year round. Private heated pool is open mid-May through mid-September. This inn is pet friendly from November 1 – June 1, Rooms 7, 8, 10 only. The inn does not refuse children, but owners ask potential guests to keep in mind that it is not an appropriate setting for most children.

Most rooms have fireplaces, private porches, canopy beds, and bathrooms with whirlpool tubs for two. Guests can enjoy breakfast by candlelight, have pastries with tea in the afternoon, and take in the view of the White Mountains from the front porch. Rabbit Hill guests also have easy access to ski areas. This inn is located 3 hours from Boston and 85 miles from Burlington, Vt.

The inn is appropriate for children ages 14 and older. There is a two-night minimum on weekends and three-night minimum for some holidays. The inn is closed early Nov. and early April.
