2002 NHL Skills Competition

52nd NHL All-Star Game. Date: Feb. 2 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles; Coaches: Scotty Bowman, Detroit (World) and Pat Quinn, Toronto (North America); MVP: Eric Daze, Chicago left wing (North America)—two goals, one assist.

Starters were chosen by fan vote while reserves were selected by the NHL's Hockey Operations Department, after consultation with NHL general managers. Head coaches whose teams had the best winning percentage in the Western Conference (World) and Eastern Conference (North America) on Jan. 2 and 4, respectively, were named all-star head coaches.

Center Espen Knutsen was added to the World team as an injury replacement for Jere Lehtinen.

Defenseman Chris Chelios and center Mike York were added to the North American team as injury replacements for Brian Rafalski and Eric Lindros, respectively.
