NBA and WNBA 1997-98 Season: NBA/WNBA All-Star 2Ball
The All-Star 2Ball replaced the slam dunk contest in 1998. In it one NBA and one WNBA player, who compete on teams from the same city, are paired up in a competition in which they alternate taking shots from seven designated spots on the half court, accumulating points for every made basket. Each team has one minute to perform, and the point amounts differ according to the distance away from the basket. First prize: $20,000.
Teams: Charlotte— Glen Rice and Andrea Stinson; Cleveland— Wesley Person and Michelle Edwards; Houston— Clyde Drexler and Cynthia Cooper; Los Angeles— Kobe Bryant and Lisa Leslie; New York— Allan Houston and Rebecca Lobo; Phoenix— Steve Nash and Michele Timms; Sacramento— Mitch Richmond and Ruthie Bolton-Holifield; Salt Lake City— Karl Malone and Tammi Reiss.
