PAREDES Quintin , a Resident Commissioner from the Commonwealth of the Philippines; born in Bangued, Abra Province, Luzon, Philippine Islands, September 9, 1884; attended the local schools; attended the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, P.I., c. 1895; attended Colegio de la Purissima Concepcion, Vigan, P.I.; deputy treasurer, Abra Province, P.I.; studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1908; lawyer, private practice; fourth prosecuting attorney, solicitor general's office, P.I., 1908, first prosecuting attorney, solicitor general's office, P.I., 1913-1917; faculty member and dean, Escuela de Derecho, Manila, P.I., 1913-1917; solicitor general of the Philippine Islands, 1917-1918; attorney general of the Philippine Islands, 1918-1920, secretary of justice in administration of Philippines Governor General Francis Burton Harrison, 1920-1921; member of the first Philippine independence mission to the United States in 1919; member of the Philippine house of representatives, 1925-1934, 1946-1949, speaker pro tempore, 1929-1931 & 1934; member of the Philippine national assembly, 1935 & 1938; appointed as a Nacionalista to the Seventy-fourth Congress and served until his resignation on September 29, 1938 (December 21, 1935-September 29, 1938); member of the Philippine senate 1941-1945, 1950, 1955-1961; president, General Bank and Trust Co., 1963-1969; died on January 30, 1973, in Manila, P.I.; interment at North Cemetery, Manila, P.I.
