James Herbert GHOLSON, Congress, VA (1798-1848)
GHOLSON James Herbert , a Representative from Virginia; born in Gholsonville, Brunswick County, Va., in 1798; pursued an academic course and was graduated from Princeton College in 1820; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Percivals, Va.; member of the State house of delegates 1824-1828 and 1830-1833; elected as an Anti-Jacksonian to the Twenty-third Congress (March 4, 1833-March 3, 1835); served as judge of the circuit court for the Brunswick circuit for many years; died in Brunswick County, Va., July 2, 1848; interment in Blandford Cemeter, Petersburg, Petersburg City, Va.
