Horace EVERETT, Congress, VT (1779-1851)
EVERETT Horace , a Representative from Vermont; born in Foxboro, Mass., July 17, 1779; was graduated from Brown University, Providence, R.I., in 1797; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1801 and commenced practice in Windsor, Vt.; prosecuting attorney for Windsor County 1813-1818; member of the State house of representatives in 1819, 1820, 1822, 1824, and again in 1834; delegate to the State constitutional convention in 1828; elected as an Anti-Jacksonian candidate to the Twenty-first through the Twenty-fourth Congresses, and reelected as a Whig to the Twenty-fifth, Twenty-sixth, and Twenty-seventh Congresses (March 4, 1829-March 3, 1843); died in Windsor, Vt., January 30, 1851; interment in Old South Burying Ground.
