Charles OGLE, Congress, PA (1798-1841)
OGLE Charles , a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Somerset, Somerset County, Pa., in 1798; completed preparatory studies; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1822 and commenced practice in Somerset; elected as an Anti-Masonic candidate to the Twenty-fifth and Twenty-sixth Congresses; reelected as a Whig to the Twenty-seventh Congress and served from March 4, 1837, until his death in Somerset, Pa., May 10, 1841; chairman, Committee on Roads and Canals (Twenty-sixth Congress); interment in Union Cemetery.
