Charles Eaton HAYNES, Congress, GA (1784-1841)

HAYNES Charles Eaton , a Representative from Georgia; born in Brunswick, Mecklenburg County, Va., April 15, 1784; moved to Sparta, Ga.; completed preparatory studies; was graduated in medicine from the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia and practiced; elected as a Jacksonian to the Nineteenth, Twentieth, and Twenty-first Congresses (March 4, 1825-March 3, 1831); chairman, Committee on Expenditures in the Department of War (Twentieth Congress); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1830 to the Twenty-second Congress and for election in 1832 to the Twenty-third Congress; elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-fourth Congress and reelected as a Democrat to the Twenty-fifth Congress (March 4, 1835-March 3, 1839); died August 29, 1841; interment in Sparta, Ga.
