BURLISON Bill D. , a Representative from Missouri; born in Wardell, Pemiscot County, Mo., March 15, 1931; B.A., Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, Mo., 1953; B.S., Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, Mo., 1959; M.Ed. and LL.B., University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo., 1956; admitted to practice before United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Military Appeals, United States District Court, and all Missouri courts; president, Missouri Prosecuting Attorneys Association; assistant attorney general of Missouri, 1960-1962; prosecuting attorney, Cape Girardeau County, 1963-1969; Head General Courts-Martial Trial Counsel, Second Marine Division, United States Marine Corps.; instructor, Southeast Missouri State College; delegate, Democratic National Convention, 1964; elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-first and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1969-January 3, 1981); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Ninety-seventh Congress in 1980; resumed the practice of law; unsuccessful candidate for Maryland state house of delegates in 1986 and 1990; member, Anne Arundel, Md. county council, 1998-2006; relocated to Advance, Mo.; unsuccessful candidate for Missouri state house of representatives in 2008, 2010, and 2014; died on March 17, 2019, in Wardell, Mo.
