Academy Award-winning, self-possessed film actress who is known for her intelligent, sensual presence. Her films include Atlantic City (1980), Bull Durham (1988), Thelma and Louise (1991), Dead Man Walking (1995), Twilight (1998), Stepmom (1998), and Anywhere But Here (1999). In 2002 she was in The Banger Sisters, Moonlight Mile, and Igby Goes Down. She was in two remakes for 2004: a reprise of 1966's Alfie and an English-language version of the 1997 Japanese film, Shall We Dance? with Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere. Her longtime companion and father of her children is Tim Robbins.
