Note: The WBA featherweight belt was passed around quite a bit in 1998. Wilfredo Vazquez was initially stripped of the belt in April. Freddie Norwood beat Antonio Cermeno for the vacant title on April 3, successfully defended it twice, but then lost the belt when he failed make his weight at the weigh-in of his Sept. 22 fight with Koji Matsumoto. Cermeno then won the vacant WBA title on Oct. 3.
*Lizarraga won the vacant IBF title.
