  • Putin Set To Mobilize Convicts: On Saturday, November 5, 2022, Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, signed a law allowing for the conscription of individuals with unfinished or pending sentences for murder, robbery, theft, drug trafficking, and other serious offenses. Thousands of people who have received probationary sentences or have recently been released from colonies can be mobilized thanks to this law.[1]

  • North Korea Fires Another 4 Ballistic Missiles: On Saturday, November 5, 2022, the Military of South Korea reported that North Korea launched four short-range missiles into the western sea. According to Seoul, the missiles flew about 80 miles and reached an altitude of about 10 miles.   • Plane Crashes Into Lake Victoria: On Sunday, November 6, 2022, about 19 people were killed when a Tanzanian passenger plane crashed into Lake Victoria while attempting to land in the lakeside town of Bukoba. According to the operator Precision Air, only 24 of the 43 people on board survived. The tragedy occurred around 08:50 local time (05:50) and was attributed to bad weather.[3]

  • Putin’s Ally Admits To Interfering In US Elections: On Monday, November 7, 2022, Prigozhin, who has previously been accused of interfering in the outcomes of elections on multiple continents, said in a statement posted by his catering company that they had interfered, are interfering, and will continue to interfere. President Biden's spokesperson, Karine Jean-Pierre, stated that Prigozhin's remarks did not surprise the White House.[4]

  • North Korea Denies Arms Deal With Russia: On Tuesday, November 8, 2022, the North Korean state media stated that the country has never traded arms with Russia and has no plans to do so. This comes after the United States claimed that North Korea appears to be supplying artillery shells to Russia for its conflict in Ukraine. North Korea was one of the few countries to recognize the breakaway Ukrainian region's independence.[5]

  • Bomb Blast Kills 4 In Nigeria: On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, At least four people were killed, and a dozen others were injured in a blast at a famous market in Nigeria's southeastern state of Anambra, according to witnesses and officials. The Anambra Police spokesperson stated that the situation was under control, and the state emergency management agency confirmed that an investigation had been launched.[6]

  • Abortion Ban Delayed In New Mexico: On Friday, November 4, 2022, The city commission of Clovis postponed a vote on an ordinance designed to ban abortions within the town of New Mexico near the Texas border, fearing legal challenges in a state where the procedure is still legal. The city commission of the nearby village of Hobbs is also expected to consider a similar measure.[1]

  • Flu Cases Soar In The US: On Saturday, November 5, 2022, experts warned that other Covid variants and respiratory illnesses are rising, as flu-related hospitalizations are at their highest in decades. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States reported that flu-related cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are all at ten-year highs, with adults over 65 and young children most affected.[2]

  • Ron DeSantis Wins Florida Race: On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, The incumbent Republican governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, won the governorship election by a 10-point margin over his Democratic opponent, Charlie Crist, a former Republican governor of the Sunshine State. According to the Associated Press, DeSantis received 57.2% of the vote, with 73% of the votes cast as of 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday.[3]

  • John Fetterman Wins Pennsylvania Senate Race: On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, John Fetterman, who Democrats poured their hopes into preserving the senate to replace retiring Senator Pat Toomey, won over Republican Mehmet Oz. Fetterman, the 53-year-old politician who suffered a near-fatal stroke in May, returned to campaigning months later with a hesitant, altered speech, claiming to be "fighting for everyone in Pennsylvania whoever got knocked down."[4]

  • Carbon Emission To Hit Record High: On Thursday, November 10, 2022, researchers made new observations that with current global trends, 1.5 degrees Celsius of global warming is much more likely in the coming decade. According to the study, coal emissions will reach an all-time high in 2014. However, unlike in the past, India and the European Union are driving this rather than China.[5]

  • Meta Set To Lay Off 13% Of Its Workforce: On Thursday, November 10, 2022, Meta announced plans for a 13% employee reduction. The company's first major layoffs will result in the dismissal of 11,000 people from its global workforce.  According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the cuts are "the most difficult decisions we've undertaken in Meta's history."  He also claimed that the company would focus on high-growth sectors such as AI, advertising, and "our long-term ambition for the metaverse." Meta will also save money by spending less on buildings and offices.[6]
