1. Ukrainian Evacuees Become Trapped In The Tunnels Of Azovstal Iron And Steel Works Until Rescue

On Wednesday, Ukrainian evacuees that consisted of men, women, children, babies, and pets were safely extracted from their bunker hiding place of a steelworks that fell under Russian bombardment. The individuals were ushered onto Ukrainian-held soil and given necessities that were much needed after their time in the tunnels trying to source food and water as the bombs fell overhead.

2. President Joe Biden Seeks An Easier Path To US Citizenship For Recent Afghan Refugees

On Wednesday, American President Biden petitioned Congress to supply an easier way for refugees from Afghanistan to gain US citizenship. If accepted, this measure will apply to all such refugees who arrived from July 31, 2021, until the end of September 2022, and who are currently covered only by a temporary protection status in that country.

3. Select Abortion Clinics Around The US Prepare Themselves For Patient Influx As Abortion Rights Continue To Be Debated

On Wednesday, Planned Parenthood clinics in several states are bracing themselves for amounts of out-of-state patients seeking medical help if the Roe v. Wade ruling gets overturned this week, preventing pregnant individuals from seeking the right to abortion as the legal battles continue to be waged surrounding the subject. But these state clinics remain steadfast, ready to accommodate those who require their essential services.

4. New Mexico Continues To Be Besieged By Out-Of-Control Wildfires

Residents of New Mexico, particularly in the Northeast, evacuate in advance of multiple wildfires that are still unable to be contained. Local firefighters and emergency services are on-scene to help residents and hospitalized patients move out of the way of the blaze, but the state’s governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has petitioned the President for national disaster status and additional assistance to combat the devastation.

5. Father Of Murder Victim And Pageant Winner JonBenet Ramsey Asks For Outside Eyes To Reassess Case DNA

On Wednesday, a petition to the Governor of Colorado was made by JonBenet Ramsey’s father, as no new leads have been discovered in her case after the 6-year-old was found missing and later murdered in the basement of the family home in 1996. Mr. Ramsey hopes that a fresh perspective brought to the case and the remaining DNA evidence could help uncover answers and provide closure.
