Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) in the U.S., 1941–2004

More than 25 diseases are spread primarily through sexual activity. The latest estimates indicate that there are about 15 million new sexually transmitted disease cases in the United States each year. Approximately one-fourth of these new infections are in teenagers. Nearly two-thirds of all STD cases occur in people younger than 25 years.
