Tell us about your work---what do you do? I type , fill, and interpret prescriptions in an outpatient pharmacy . I also handle lots of insurance issues. What skills are needed? Good typing and spelling skills, knowledge of medicines , diversity awareness, and courteousness . What was your major? Medicine How did you get started in your career? I was tired of being unemployed and decided to attend pharmacy technician school . What experience do you need in this job? You need customer service and typing experience, as well as drug knowledge. Describe your "typical" workday: I answer the telephone, help customers, interpret and type prescriptions quickly and most important accurately. What is the hardest aspect of your job? The hardest aspect is dealing with stubborn doctor's offices, insurance companies, and customers. What is the most rewarding aspect of your job? When customers personally thank you for your efforts What are your suggestions for someone considering this field?
