Ventimiglia

Ventimiglia vāntēmēˈlyä [key], Fr. Vintimille, town (1991 pop. 25,308), Liguria, NW Italy, on the Ligurian Sea and the Italian Riviera, near the French border. It is a seaport, a popular beach resort, and a major flower market. Landmarks include the 11th-century Church of San Michele and the cathedral (11th–12th cent.), with a 5th-century piscina. In nearby Grimaldi are grottoes in which prehistoric remains have been found.
