Oppland

Oppland ôpˈlän [key], county (1995 pop. 183,194), 9,773 sq mi (25,312 sq km), S central Norway. The chief towns are Lillehammer (the capital) and Gjovik. The county is traversed from northwest to southeast by the Gudbrandsdalen valley. Farming and lumbering are the main occupations, and tourism is an important industry. The northern section is mountainous.
