Hershey, uninc. city (2020 pop.
13,858), Dauphin co., S central Pa.; founded 1903 as a planned community for
workers at the Hershey Corp., the chocolate manufacturer that remains its
largest employer. Among the city's other products are tools and dies,
machinery, and explosives; farm products are processed. The city is a major
tourist attraction, with the Hersheypark theme park and ZooAmerica, the
Hotel Hershey resort, and museums. The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center of
Pennsylvania State Univ. and the Milton Hershey School, a residential school
for children with financial and social needs, are also there.
