Goshen.
<1> City (2020 pop. 34,517), seat of Elkhart co., N Ind., on
the Elkhart River; inc. 1868. Goshen is in a farm and dairy region; poultry
is also raised and processed. Its manufactures include agricultural,
transportation, and electronic equipment and paper, rubber, metal, and wood
products. Amish and Mennonite colonies are in the area. Goshen College is
there. <2> Village (2020 pop. 5,410), seat of Orange co., SE
N.Y.; est. 1788. The town provided troops during the French and Indian and
Revolutionary wars; its regiment suffered heavy losses in the battle of
Minisink (1779). Camp Wickham was established there in 1862 during the Civil
War, where the 124th Regiment of Volunteers was mustered; they participated
in the Battle of Appomattox. The Legoland theme park opened there in
2021.
