Prokopyevsk

Prokopyevsk prəkôpˈyĭfsk [key], city (1989 pop. 274,000), E Siberian Russia. A coal-producing city of the Kuznetsk Basin, it also manufactures mining machinery, chemicals, and food products. It was founded after the Russian Revolution of 1917. Its coal production declined in the late 1980s.
