Yiwu, city (2010 est. pop. 1,200,000), central Zhejiang prov., E China. Although the city produces rice, oil crops, sugarcane, and manufactured goods (processed foods, textiles, and machinery), Yiwu is best known as the world's largest wholesale market for small commodities, including clothing, toys, electronics, furniture, and jewelry. It also plays a significant role in e-commerce. Yiwu is connected by high-speed rail with Shanghai and Guangzhou, and is also a long-distance freight center.
