Owo

Owo ōˈwō [key], city (1987 est. pop. 147,000), S Nigeria. It is primarily a farming and commercial city, located in an area producing cacao, cotton, and timber. Owo was the capital of a Yoruba state of the same name that was founded in the 14th cent. Owo came under British rule in 1893.
