Castex, Jean, 1965–, French government official and political leader. A member of the center-right Republicans (and its predecessor, the Union for a Popular Movement), Castex has held a variety of civil service and political posts including serving as chief of staff to the ministers for health and solidarity (2006–7) and for labor, social relations, and solidarity (2007–8), social adviser to President Sarkozy (2010–11), master auditor at the Court of Audit (2012–17), president of the National Sports Agency (2019), and interministerial coordinator for the lockdown exit strategy for COVID-19 (2020). He also was mayor of the town of Prades in SW France (2008–20). In 2020, President Macron appointed him premier.
