Briceño, Juan Antonio, 1960–, Belizean political leader, known as Johnny Briceño. A member of the People's United party (PUP), he was first elected to the national assembly in 1993. He served as co-chairman of the PUP (1994–96), then was deputy party leader (1996–2008). He served as deputy prime minister and minister of natural resources and the environment (1998–2007) under Prime Minister Said Musa, but resigned over policy disagreements with Musa. He became PUP leader in 2008 after he was one of the few PUP members to win a seat, serving until 2011, and was elected party leader again in 2016. In 2020 he led the PUP to a majority, and became prime minister and minister of finance.
