Brewer's: Succoth

The Jewish feast of tabernacles or tents, which began on the 15th Tisri (September), and lasted eight days. It was kept in remembrance of the sojourn in the wilderness, and was a time of grand rejoicing. Those who kept it held in their hands sprigs of myrtle, palm-branches, and willowtwigs. The Pentateuch was read on the last eight days.
