Pertaining to Shem, descendant of Shem, derived from Shem.

The Shemitic languages
are Chaldee, Syriac, Arabic, Hebrew, Samaritan, Ethiopic, and old Phoenician. The great characteristic of this family of languages is that the roots of words consist of three consonants.
