- Violence erupted between Trump supporters and protesters after an event in early March, causing the Trump campaign to cancel a rally at the University of Illinois-Chicago out of fear of further unrest. Mr Trump said later that if the Republican hierarchy tried to wrest the nomination away from him at July's convention there would be "riots" in the streets.
