Job Recovery Holds Steady in June (July 3): According to the Labor Department, the U.S. economy adds 223,000 jobs in June. Since Jan. 2013, the average number of jobs that have been added per month is 223,000. The unemployment rate fell from 5.5% in May to 5.4% in June. However, labor-force participation drops in June to 62.6, a new post-recession low.
