• Year Ends Strong for Job Growth (Jan. 9): According to the Labor Department, the U.S. economy adds 252,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate falls from 5.8% in November to 5.6% in December 2014. Overall, 2014 is the best year for job growth since 1999.
