Wilco: Summer Teeth
Summer Teeth
- Reprise
The band members have been very busy on their own and with side projects like Golden Smog, but Wilco's apparently having no problems maintaining the pace. In fact, the band's new album may very well be its best yet. Here the alt-folk/alt-country rockers splash their sound with a healthy dose of mid-1960s pop, filled with echoes of Lennon and McCartney and Brian Wilson. “Candyfloss” and “I'm Always in Love” recall vintage Beach Boys, “A Shot in the Arm” gets a shot of Beatle-esque production techniques and both “Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway (again)” and especially the harmony-filled “ELT” have a gloriously retro AM feel going for them. The songs are sophisticated and charming, the production is exceptional and the band is firmly establishing itself as one of the most important acts of the decade.
