Blackout!
- Island/Def Jam
They scored big in 1995 with the cannabis-loving collaboration “How High,” and now two of hip-hop's certified superstars have teamed up again for a full album's worth of fury on Blackout!
Kicking in with the hardcore, beat-staggered title track — which borrows bits from an old Fat Boys' cut — Meth and Red rip through lyrical collaborations like “Y.O.U.,” gangsta cuts like the RZA-produced “Cereal Killer,” and smoke 'n' steam power trips like “Dat's Dat S**t.”
Not surprisingly, there are some A-list guests on board here, with Method Man and Redman working best with LL Cool J and Ja Rule on “4 Seasons.” Still, the set's standout just might be when the pair slip in some Parliament echoes onto the roof-raising “Tear It Off.”
