Amid rumors and controversy, Joan Osborne was dropped from her label, despite her seven times Grammy-nominated album Relish and its huge hit single "One of Us." It took her five long years to deliver this follow-up, but with a new label and an uncompromising approach, Osborne comes back surprisingly strong on Righteous Love.

It may not have a single as instantly unforgettable as "One of Us," but with songs like the electric-sitar textured "Running Out of Time," the power-filled vocal showcase "Hurricane," and the lusty, baritone sax driven "Baby Love," Osborne has rebounded in grand fashion.

She also turns in a couple of strong cover songs, including an out-of-the-blue version of Gary Wright's "My Love Is Alive" and a subdued but tasty take of Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love."
