With Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant on board, it's tough to top the lineup on this tribute to the late great Chicago bluesman Jimmy Rogers. The disc, which was finished shortly before Rogers' death in December 1997, also features Taj Mahal, Stephen Stills, Lowell Fulson and Jeff Healey. The A-list contributors cover songs Rogers either wrote or with which he was closely associated. Jagger and Richards' duets with the blues guitarist on three songs here are essential for Stones fans and blues aficionados alike. Particularly noteworthy is a sizzling rendition of “Don't Start Me to Talkin',” with Jagger and Rogers trading off verses. Mahal's country blues contribution of “Bright Lights Big City” is another standout, as are the three Clapton cuts — especially the slow and very tasty “That's All Right.”
